Definition of Leadership.

The ability to persuade a group of people to work towards common objectives is what is meant by leadership. This influence may come from a formal source, such as having managerial status within an organization. A person may adopt a leadership role merely because of the position he or she has in the organization, as management jobs come with some level of formally authorized authority. However, not all managers are also leaders, and vice versa. The mere fact that a company grants its managers certain formal privileges does not guarantee that they can lead successfully. Non-sanctioned leadership, or the capacity for influence that develops beyond the official framework of the organization, is frequently just as crucial as a formal influence. In other words, leaders can emerge from within a group and by formal appointment to lead a group.

For maximum effectiveness, organizations need excellent management and strong leadership. In the fast-paced world of today, we need leaders who will question the status quo, envision the future, and motivate their team members to work towards their goals. We also require managers to design effective organizational structures, develop detailed strategies, and oversee daily operations.
